Two from Future Generations Arunachal Participated in National Seminar


Two staff from Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) Ms. Takhe Meena, Supervisor and Mrs. Rubu Ampi, Finance Associate participated in a National Seminar on 'Developing Leadership Skills of Women Representatives of PRIs' which was organised by National Institute of Rural Development - North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati from 18 to 21 November'2013. Objective of this 4 days program was to develop & strengthen a leadership quality and it covered various issues such as PRIs role, Constitution of India, Amendments, various schemes for empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions, Financial Management and Resource Mobilization etc.
Moreover, Resource from NIRD also explained the participants how govt. departments/officials & NGO can take part in the upliftment of Panchayati Raj.

From Arunachal, PRI members from West Siang and Papumpare also took part in this programme. Besides this, some govt. officials and PRI members from other states including Manipur and Assam also participated in the seminar. The participants were also taken to Morigaon on a field visit which got Nirmal Gram Award in 2008-09, also visited to Kapili Development Colony where participants interacted with local people of that area and shared experiences. 
Resource persons from NIRD, Guwahati facilitated to more than 50 (Fifty) participants from different states  in this four days seminar with emphasizing knowledge and skill development of each participant.

Attended workshop on...

Mr. Mone Gurung, Program Coordinator FGA, attended a week-long (15-20 November, 2013) workshop on entrepreneurship development workshop on food processing at Rajiv Gandhi University extension centre, Naharlagun. The workshop was organized by Institute of Integrated Rural Development (IIRD), Shimla in Collaboration with Department of Mass Communication, Rajiv Gandhi University. The program was supported by National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Sonepat, Haryana.


Field visit was organized at Bosco Integrated Development Center, Yupia/Tigdo where Don Bosco family managing a food processing unit (small). Participants were excited to see the unit for the first time in their life where manually and in simple way they are manufacturing varieties of pickle.

Among others, Resource faculty from IIRD imparted the workshop focused on communication skills. 50 + participants took the opportunity to be the part of the program.

SHG training of Trainers (ToT)...



Five days Training of Trainers (ToT)-cum exposure tour for Self Help Group-federation of Future Generations Arunachal concluded here yesterday. The 15 SHG participants from Mechuka, Koyu (Rina), Sille-Oyan, Yazali-Yachuli, Palin and Ziro mostly women members enthusiastically participated in the program.
The training mainly focused on the role of effective management of SHG-federation at the grassroots level to run the income generation activities for sustainable livelihood. It also includes the micro-credit and finance system.

They were taken to Mahila Shakti Kendra (MASK), Balipara, Assam, a center of excellence with an objective to strive towards economic empowerment of the marginalized, in particular of women, aimed at self-reliance and self- sufficiency, by providing opportunities for self employment through micro-credit financing and formation of cluster of SHGs, as a part of orientation visit to see how they work together in the form of Self Help Groups and how they progress and bring change in their lives. They were also taught on helping the whole family make progress, it can lift a family out of problems through income generation activities, regular savings habits, using capital more appropriately, and to strengthen the unity among the family, groups and in the society that ultimately lead to improve living conditions. In this regard, success stories and case studies through field visit in the adjoining villages under Balipara were discussed.

It would be mention here that an integrated project entitled “Comprehensive Community Development program (CCDP)” is carrying out by Future Generations Arunachal. The major objective of the CCDP is to build knowledge, skills and values of SHG to develop more aspects to self reliance at village level. The ultimate objective is to set up a Learning Network support system for communities.
The program was concluded with a Central Coordination Committee (CCC) meeting of SHGs-federation. The program was organized by Future Generations Arunachal from 24-28 September.

Project Consultant tour...

Mr. Nawang Gurung, Consultant, Future Generations Arunachal visited Palin area in Kurung Kumey district to see the activities of Self Help Groups (SHGs)- federation from September 05-07, 2013. He was accompanied by Mr. Byabang Rocket, Governing Board member, FGA. A meeting was oraganized with all the SHGs federation members and discussed on progress of SHGs income generation activities initiated by them after getting small supporting loan on return basis from FGA. It was highly appreciated the way commitment shown by the SHGs member doing a laudable activities like group piggery, individual piggery, ginger and broom gardening and tailoring. The SHGs were also extends their happiness towards FGA for supporting them.








He again travel to Mechuka area in West Siang district on September 12-17, 2013 along with Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) staffs to meeting with SHGs federation members of Mechuka area and also visited the adjoining villages to see the cultivation practicing of Apatani variety rice cultivation in the area which was initiated and implemented by FGA along with Apatani bamboo garden. He and along with staffs felt happy and satisfactory seeing the progress and growing of rice variety a bit larger quantity then last season. It is would be note that FGA in an attempt to strengthen the organization through financially and technically from social development to more income generations aspects to self reliance the Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) for long term vision,  an integrated project called “Comprehensive Community Development program (CCDP)” was introduce from this fiscal year.

SHG federation formed under FGA



Sixteen (16) Self Help Group (SHG) federation members under Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) from Mechuka, Koyu (Rina village), Sille-Oyan, Yazali-Yachuli, Ziro and Palin participated in two day training-cum Orientation program organized FGA at Mahila Shakti Kendra (MASK), Balipara, Assam on March 12&13, last.
 These members were highly appreciated of FGA’s efforts in educating and sensitizing them based on their living condition which they express such training would help them managing a sustainable livelihood and they also urged for more such training in future.
Byabang Rocket, FGA Board Chairperson, appreciated the efforts of FGA in mobilization of rural communities and SHGs. He called upon the SHG to make best use of the training program to acquire practical knowledge and skill on SHG functioning, economic activities and the bank linkages.
The session of the program involved case studies of the SHGs of Balipara highlighting the problems and other issues that make affecting the success of the SHG in the area.
 
Nawang Gurung, Consultant, briefed the participants in all aspects of proper functioning of SHGs, formation of Bye-laws, record keeping, internal loan management and relationship with government officials and nodal NGOs. There was details interaction among the participants in management of SHG federation and its funds.
The participants express gratefulness to FGA for imparting training program and expose them the activities being carrying out by the SHG federation members of Balipara area initiated by the MASK people. 
  They gave field demonstration on Dish-washing power making, handbags and cane-bamboo crafts. Many women participants joyously said that this kind of program was eye-opening for them for the first time in their life.
The training concluded with formation of Central Coordinating Committee (CCC) of SHG federation constitutes 10 members including Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer under FGA.The program was lead by Four FGA staffs

FGA attended training...

Four people from Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) participated three days Training of Trainers (ToT) on "Sustainability of Watershed Projects in North East Region" from February 20th  to 22nd , 2013 at National Institute for Rural Development (NIRD)- North East Regional Center (NERC), Guwahati. Participants from Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh participated.

The main objects of the training was to build the front line capacity  of Primary and Secondary stakeholders how to implement the project in the respective areas to address the needs of sustainability livelihoods through watershed projects and its importance. The training was organized by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Hyderabad (MANAGE), an organization of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

SHG federation orientation....



Five days Training-cum exposure visit to Self Help Group (SHG) federation of Palin Circle organized by Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) concluded at Itanagar on 25th Feb, last. They were visited at Government run Dairy and Poultry farm in Nirjuli , Multi-Disciplinary Training Center (MDTC), Midpu and also visited mushroom production center of Horticulture department at Rajbhawan area and interact with the officer in charge.
The main objective of the exposure program was to motivate them that they can also make a difference at village level by doing some sort of income generation activities for their livelihood. It attempt to bring about a social and economic transformation of the members by common effort and mutual help. The program also taught them how to work united under SHG federation.
Altogether 15 members participated in the program. Mr. Byabang Rocket, Chairperson, FGA lead the team. It is worth to mention here that Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) is working with rural communities to bring equitable and sustainable development since 1997.

FGA’s training prog for Mechuka people ...



Itanagar, 18 Feb.:- Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) organized Four days training-cum demonstration on cultivation of Apatani variety of Bamboo and paddy to the community of Mechuka on 11 February last. The species of bamboo and paddy has been brought from the Apatani plateau and later distributed among the women groups, volunteers and villagers. As many as, 39 participants cooperated for the training.

It is worth mentioning here that the Best Practices project to identifying the best way to empower the local communities has been started in 2008 by FGA in three areas viz. Mechuka in West Siang, Koyu in East Siang and Yazali in Lower Subansiri. Resource person on Bamboo and paddy from Apatatni plateau imparted training to the community. They were equally trained and supervised by Kago Yam & Nima Buri Philley, FGA. The whole programme was coordinated by Mone Gurung, Programme Coordinator, FGA.
