Itanagar,26: International visitors impressed by the work effort of local Self Help Groups (SHGs) to improves their  life  through taking up income generation activities like piggery, handloom, agri-horti allied sector, handmade pickles and organic kitchen garden. Recently, a group of people from Future Generations/USA visited the Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) program site as a part of workshop interaction with SHGs members in Sille-Oyan and Mechuka. They also interacted with medical staffs of Primary Health Center (PHC), Sille which is managing by Future Generations Arunachal under public private partnership mode of Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Beside this, the rice cultivation practice and training imparted by FGA in 2009 at Mechuka brings fruitful results. As such, SHG members of Mechuka are every year increasing the field size and production, the release said.

It is worth to mention here that, Future Generations Arunachal under its belt has integrated the SHGs into federation and taken up the initiative to promote the Self Help Groups towards livable future through training and support

Itanagar, 12: With traditional attire women folk of Self Help Group (SHG) federation of Mechuka stolen the heart of visitor’s with their traditional local food cuisine at their food stall during recently concluded adventure@ Mechuka festival. Specially, local handmade pickle was the limelight in the food stall where everyone enjoyed and appreciated the initiative. Beside this, SHG members also earn little income through photo shoot in wearing traditional attire which they have provided to visitors.

It would be worth to mentioned that Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) with its initiative trying to promote the SHGs for their livable future in many location through capacity building training and support. Moreover, in health sector, FGA managing two units of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) of Government of Arunachal Pradesh under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)since 2006.

To Observe, to see the opportunity areas where Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) can do for the Communities of Nafra circle has visited the area from 5-9, August 2014. The program was lead by Mr. Nawang S. Gurung, Consultant (CCDP) and accompanied by Mr. Mone Gurung, Program Coordinator.
The Consultant discussed on Comprehensive Community Development programs with Goan Burah (Village Chief), Panchayat leaders (3-tier local governance comprises of ZPM, ASM &GPM) and covered 05 villages viz. Lower Dzang (3 Kms), Upper Dzang (2 kms), Khellong (6 Kms), Nachibon (11 kms) and Nakhu (12 kms). During interaction with the leaders in the different villages it is come to know that every villages constituted Self Help Groups (SHG) and did some income generation activities like goat-try and piggery but due to gap and lack of follow up motivation results non-functioning of these groups however they have maintained SHG bank accounts. The groups are interested to re-unite and do the individual and welfare of the village. However, Consultant felt that the Communities of Nafra area are well aware on income generation activities as seen during tour time where Communities are engaged in agri-alied sector specially, the production of tomato, beans, maize, potato, soyabean, chilli, cabbage etc but need to strengthen them for better market linkage. The villages are well connected with road, water, electricity and off-course mobile telecommunication (in few villages) except road that lead to Khellong and Khazalang villages. This villages have potential to promote them in home-based Eco-tourism.

During interaction with Extra Assistant Commissioner, Nafra, he also shows support and interested that Communities should be more aware about their flora and fauna and should have their own village records and social mappings. He also assures of possible help if FGA provides training and awareness programs in the area.

Four (4) Self Help Group members from Ziro and two FGA staffs underwent week long training  on Food Processing focusing on Pickle making from April 15-21, 2014 at Bosco Integrated Development Center (BIDC), Tigdo/Yupia. The training is focused to empowering the SHG members by building the capacities in order to shaping the future.

The training program was arranged by Future Generations Arunachal (FGA).

SHG members trained on pickle making

Seven women Self Help Group (SHG) members of Future Generations Arunachal underwent a week-long training on food processing with a focus on pickle making at Bosco Integrated Development Center (BIDC), Tigdo/Yupia from March 22 to 28. It is pertaining to mention here that BIDC is a sister concern organization of AIDA under Don Bosco Society.

The main purpose of the training was to educate the SHG members how to utilize the locally available raw resources and how one can earn profit from them. They were trained, especially on making pickle from bamboo shoot, which has high demand in every household.

All the trainees enthusiastically participated in the program which was arranged by Future Generations Arunachal (FGA).

Three days special National Tourism Day observed at Ziro by conducting training workshop for local tour guides, nature guides and Homestay operators based at Ziro. The program was organized by Ngunu Ziro, a Ziro based organization  in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) from January 23-25, 2014. SHG Master ToT concludes..

Itanagar 20, 2014: Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) organized master Training of Trainers (ToT) program for Self Help Groups (SHG) federation of FGA from January 12-19, 2014. The training mainly focused to build the master cadre in an aim to expand the skills and knowledge on proper management of SHGs to its associated members at the grassroots’ level.

As a part of program, the Self help Group members visited Bosco Integrated Development Center (BIDC), Yupia, Multidisciplinary training center, Midpu and Rural Resource and Training Center (RRTC), Umran, Meghalaya to gain extensive knowledge in entrepreneurship, piggery and poultry farming. As many as 14 participants from 6 districts participated in the program which was concluded here on January 19, last. The whole program was lead by Rubu Ampi and Takhe Meena.
