Three days special National Tourism Day observed at Ziro by conducting training workshop for local tour guides, nature guides and Homestay operators based at Ziro. The program was organized by Ngunu Ziro, a Ziro based organization  in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) from January 23-25, 2014. Attended workshop on...

Mr. Mone Gurung, Program Coordinator FGA, attended a week-long (15-20 November, 2013) workshop on entrepreneurship development workshop on food processing at Rajiv Gandhi University extension centre, Naharlagun. The workshop was organized by Institute of Integrated Rural Development (IIRD), Shimla in Collaboration with Department of Mass Communication, Rajiv Gandhi University. The program was supported by National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Sonepat, Haryana.

Field visit was organized at Bosco Integrated Development Center, Yupia/Tigdo where Don Bosco family managing a food processing unit (small). Participants were excited to see the unit for the first time in their life where manually and in simple way they are manufacturing varieties of pickle.

Among others, Resource faculty from IIRD imparted the workshop focused on communication skills. 50 + participants took the opportunity to be the part of the program.

FGA attended training...

Four people from Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) participated three days Training of Trainers (ToT) on "Sustainability of Watershed Projects in North East Region" from February 20th  to 22nd , 2013 at National Institute for Rural Development (NIRD)- North East Regional Center (NERC), Guwahati. Participants from Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh participated.

The main objects of the training was to build the front line capacity  of Primary and Secondary stakeholders how to implement the project in the respective areas to address the needs of sustainability livelihoods through watershed projects and its importance. The training was organized by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Hyderabad (MANAGE), an organization of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

Water monitoring training to GPM

Itanagar June 4, 2012: Training on Handling of Water Testing Field Test Kits to the Gram Panchayat/ Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC) of East Siang District concluded at Boleng Sub- division on June 01 last at Community hall, Boleng. Selected VWSC members from the surrounding Gram Segments under Boleng sub-division participated in the programme with full enthusiasm.  Er. Oling Taloh, AE (PHE & WS) Boleng Sub-division participated in the training programme and encourages the participants not to missed the opportunity of the training to monitoring the drinking water quality and its sources.  He advised the selected VWSC trainees to take the responsibilities for monitoring the drinking water sources of their respected villages using the supplied Field Testing Kits (FTK). He briefs the participants that about 70-80% of diseases are caused due to using the unsafe drinking water from the contaminated water. Further, he advices the participants that it is more important to practice in the field to check the water sources then only attending training programme.

Ojing Megu, Laboratory Technician, PHE & WS dept, Pasighat, and Mone Gurung, FGA gave demonstrative training on how to use and measure the chemical reagents while handling the Water Testing Field Test Kit to the participants.

Earlier, Mone Gurung, Project Coordinator, FGA, introduces the organization’s aims & the objectives and the objectives of the training programme to the participants.  He encourages the participants to take the maximum opportunities of the training programme.  FGA is mainly focus on grassroots level capacity building programme to the local people using the human energy for equitable and sustainable development. It also works on healthcare, income generation, women empowerment and conservation. 

At the end, Field Testing Kits (FTK) was distributed to each Village of Boleng circle. As many as 42 peoples attended the training programme.

Training attended on "Geriatric Care"...

Six Participants from Arunachal Pradesh participated in week-long training programme on “Geriatric Care” which was concluded at Agartala on March 23 last. The program was organized by National Institute of Social Defense (NISD), Govt. of India in collaboration with Abhoy Mission, Agartala and was supported by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. The main objectives of the training is to develop a cadre of frontline skilled/trained personnel of Geriatric Care givers that specializes in home care in family and community setting and creating a team of frontline personnel in old age care.

Three (3) from Future Generations Arunachal (FGA) and one each from Community Learning & Doing Center (CLDC), Palin, Rintey Dene Welfare Society, Palin and Ngunu Ziro, Ziro participated in the training programme. Participants from Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and local citizens of Agartala also attended the programme. The five day programme covered various issues on basic care of elderly people, role of police personnel for care & protection of senior citizens, protective laws, promoting health & active ageing, dietary at older age and recreational activities for older people. The participants also visited Old age homes/ Ashram at Gokulnagar and Gandhigram in Agartala and interacted with the older peoples and with disabled children and tried to know what challenges being they face in their native home from the family members and how they feel at Old age homes.

It is worth mentioning here that the Abhoy Mission, a voluntary organization with the objective of providing well-structured and multidimensional services to the persons with disabilities and Senior Citizens taking community at large into account and at the same time to reduce the incidence of disability in the state and to grow confidence in the minds of Senior Citizens.

Best Practices Training

The training of trainers for selected women leaders in the Best Practices project sites in Mechuka, Yachuli and Koyu areas that started on February 2, was concluded yesterday. Twelve women from the three sites enthusiastically participated in the program. One of the participants was Mary, who has started school after she managed to struggle free of his husband to whom she was married when she was still a child.


On the first day, Dr. Tage Kanno, Executive Director talked about the purposes and importance of the program, the works of Future Generations, concept of development and the roles of communities in shaping their own future. In the following two days, the resource persons comprising of the FGA staff and staff of PHC, Sille demonstrated effective conduction of participatory training. The highlight was field visit to Mangnang village where the trainers interacted with the community members there and saw how each one is playing significant roles in the affairs of the village. The role of the VWW, who have also become the ASHA now, was especially inspiring. In the following days, the participants practiced the skill of participatory training that they had learnt. Each of the six teams tried to perform better than the other. The result was a strong team of trainers in some of the most inaccessible villages in Arunachal Pradesh.

While the training program ended well, an unfortunate incident dampened the mood in the last moment. One of the participant's child suddenly fell ill in the afternoon and expired early today morning. The father had brought the child to Itanagar from Yachuli and was upset that the mother could not be with the child at the time of need. All the resource persons and participants from all sites stayed with the mother till a vehicle could be hired. All the women who had come from Yachuli area accompanied the mother till her home. It was a tragedy nobody could foresee. Losing a child is an irreparable loss, but the solidarity that other members in the program showed was exemplary
